Nyale Institute, with support from Amplify Change, has shared a comprehensive manual aimed at orienting civil society leaders on the legal basis for abortion in Malawi, particularly in relation to children who are pregnant as a result of rape.

Titled “Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights under Malawi’s Legal Framework,” the manual serves as an essential resource for understanding the country’s laws governing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

Dr. Godfrey Kangaude, the Executive Director of Nyale Institute, explained that the manual was developed to address a critical gap in the advocacy efforts of various stakeholders.

The manual is intended to orient healthcare providers, educators, policymakers, and advocates, covering vital topics such as the relationship between the constitution and SRHR, the role of the Malawi Human Rights Commission in protecting SRHR, and the legal considerations surrounding safe and legal abortion, particularly for children and survivors of rape.

Nyale Institute aims to ensure broad accessibility by distributing digital copies of the manual via online platforms, providing downloadable links for easy.
